The United Methodist Church Rejects God and His Word

The Position of Methodism and Women

The United Methodist Church.

Those of us who have examined this modern denomination conclude that there is a massive denial of Scripture and of the will of God to be found there. We have discussed this matter at another place. (See What about the United Methodist Church?)

But it seems that United Methodists continue their downward plunge to destruction year by year. It is true that they lose members but this doesn’t make the Methodist authorities stop and look at what they are doing. Their insistence that they are free to violate as many scriptures as they want to continues, taking them from bad to worse! Just this week there was reported that nearly half of United Methodists approve of the clergy being sodomites or homosexuals. And this is just the clergy. What about the rank and file members?

Just today a woman Methodist “Bishop” wrote on line:

As preachers, leaders, teachers, missionaries, organizers, women have shaped the history of the Methodist Church. In their work with the poor, vulnerable and disenfranchised, church women have initiated important social and political reform.

In the Methodist tradition, women were ordained as ministers as early as the late 19th century, and in 1956 the Methodist Church, a predecessor body of The United Methodist Church, granted women full clergy rights. Women now make up approximately 25% of clergy in The United Methodist Church. (http://www.umc.org/topics/topic-women-in-leadership)

If we only look at this matter of the woman’s participation and leadership, we know that Scripture—the Word of God—has much to say. Notice these few points, as starters:

  1. A woman is not to speak or teach a man in public (1 Timothy 2:11-12).
  2. A woman is not to lead in prayer in public (1 Timothy 2:8).
  3. A woman is not to address the congregation but must remain silent (1 Corinthians 14:33-37).
  4. To violate what God has written about this is to violate Scripture (1 Corinthians 14:37).
  5. A woman is not to be a “bishop” (the Greek term is episcopos) or overseer (1 Timothy 3:1-3).
  6. A man must be the husband of one wife to qualify as an overseer (1 Timothy 3:1-3).
  7. A woman must not be an elder (the elders were the overseers and the overseers were the elders) (Acts 20:17, 28).
  8. A woman must not be a shepherd (this is the translation of the Greek poimein, shepherd) and the shepherd is the overseer (1 Timothy 3:1-3).

Obviously, there are many other considerations here. But the point is that a woman in the Methodist Church is entirely out of her sphere and violates clear and unambiguous Scripture.  In other words, the Methodist clergy violate God’s Word, the Methodist women violate God’s Word, the rank and fine Methodist man violates Scripture.

If there are any God-fearing people still in this unscriptural and liberal denomination, we call upon you to leave immediately. God hates disobedience and rebellion, the very thing that we see in this denomination! For you to stay is to lend some degree of approval of massive amounts of false doctrine and false ways.
