The Pessimist’s Creed

What’s the use of sunshine–
It only blinds your eyes.
What’s the use of knowledge–
It only makes you wise.
What’s the use of smiling–
It wrinkles up your face.
What’s the use of flowers–
Clutter up the place.
What’s the use of eating–
Nothing, only taste.
What’s the use of hustling–
Haste is only waste.
What’s the use of music–
Just a lot of noise.
What’s the use of loving–
Only for the joys.
What’s the use of singing–
Only makes you glad.
What’s the use of goodness–
When the whole world’s bad.
What’s the use of health–
You might as well be sick.
What’s the use of doing anything–
But kick!

The Christian’s Perspective:

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? . . . But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord! (Romans 8:35,37-39).

” We also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation” (Rom. 5:11).

” Rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation” (Rom.12:12).

” . . . as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing” (2 Cor. 6:10a).
