His Countenance

In his face I saw a sadness

For he was lost in sin;

But I longed to see a gladness

With peace that reigns within.

 

Could I tell him of my Savior

Who rescues one from loss?

Could I share with him the message

Of Christ upon the cross?

 

Then in love I reached out to him

And offered Christ the Son.

How he joyously received Him—

For Jesus’ love had won!

 

Now his countenance is brighter—

The shadows fled away;

For in fellowship with Jesus

He walks and talks each day.
