Today I was noticing online a series of presentations of various leading persons on live. Some were wealthy and some not as much so. I suppose that they ranged from about 25 to 75 year or age, with the average age about 35 to 65.

I had to think of these people and where they may be now. They had houses (mostly from the West but some from the East or North), mostly warmer places but not all. They may have been from California, but some were from other locations, such as Delaware, Pennsylvania, Texas, Tennessee, and the Carolinas. I suppose that they had houses that ranged from $300,000 to $50 million. We refer to such personages as Al Gore, Ted Cruse, President Obama, and many others.

I had to think of how sad this was. These people may have lived in seven or eight room houses, but most lived in 15 or 20 or 30 room mansions. They will surely all be gone in 100 years and mostly sooner. But these dear people, living in luxury and opulence here, will soon be gone. Apparently they gave little thought to the poor people around them and no interest in the Lord who gave Himself for them. Now they are all gone.

Dear friend, what will you do? I know that you don’t want to wait 100 or 200 years or more for the “end” to come. Now is the time to get right with the Lord. I just finished looking at the obituaries of people who had died in the past 50 years or so. They are all gone. Some lived longer than others but surely all of them are now gone. This could be you or me. Maybe you will be gone in a few years and I will be also. Some of these people where good “church-going” people but even the church is now gone. This is the way it will be for all of us. We are here today but we are not guaranteed another day, another year, or ten years.

Now is the time to make sure about our condition and prepare to meet God in judgement. Regarding the people I mentioned above, some of them where in a Parochial school when I grew up. Now they are gone. The school is gone. The people are gone. Many have moved away from the place of my origin and even the state. Many of them are “6 foot under” now at the present time. Do you want this to be the case with you?

Come to Jesus as the Lord, Savior, and King, and give yourself to Him now. This church or any church cannot save you. Only Jesus can save. Only if you give yourself to Him in humble obedience and faith will you find Him to be a Refuge!
