The War in Ukraine

We just saw another video clip of the offensive that Russia is waging against her neighbor, Ukraine. It would be good for you to get your map out and remind yourself of where these two countries are situated. We haven’t been following the history of the conflict nor the history of these nations.

Very much. As we understand it, Russia claims that the Ukraine or at least the eastern part of the country actually belongs to Russia. Be that as it may, we know that these are two countries now and supposedly they should remain two countries.

Scripture says that God “made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation” (Acts 17:26). This seems to say that although the Christian is “neutral” regarding these national conflicts, we do recognize that God is working all of this out according to His plan in the world. Russia and Ukraine should realize this.

We know that Ukraine (with only 40 million population and Russia with 145 million population) just can’t sustain (from a human perspective) the kind of bombardment that Russia is inflicting on it. We have written about this in the past.

It is good to know that the Christian is serving a Higher Power who is God Himself. This little clip that we saw today had the Russian military giving the credit to God for their success. We know that Ukraine does likewise. And both of them are under the Orthodox dominion, false churches that dominate not only these two countries but many others in the eastern areas.

When we see the devastation that has come upon the second-largest nation in Europe, we are made to wonder. We realize that people from Ukraine are lost. And people from Russia are lost. In other words, people from both of these countries are without God and will one day (perhaps in a decade, or two, or five) face a holy God.

We are not saying that every single person is lost, for there may be a person here or there in both of these nations who know God and are serving Him. But it is very hard. For instance, we think that children from both of these countries are being lied to (or deceived) in the public schools  many hours a day. And adults are sucked into a godless system. We also think that young men must kill their enemies to submit to the government. It is a very evil system and must be quite difficult to stand for Christ and Him alone.
