The Sad, Sad Lot of the Unrepentant Homosexual
We refer to “sodomite” as a homosexual or lesbian and all of those who sin in a similar manner. Of course, the term comes from Sodom where the whole city was given over to homosexuality (see Genesis 18:20-19:38). To be clear, perhaps we should entitle this article, “The Sad, Sad Lot of the Unrepentant Homosexual” (this, of course, would include the female homosexual and every similar sin).
We are aware that there is more and more acceptance of this sin in today’s culture, especially in Europe, America, and similar places. It is not one that is that common in Asia, Latin America [i.e., South America, Central America, the Caribbean), and Africa. In some places, homosexuality has even received a greater criminal record (see Uganda, Nigeria, and Singapore). In some countries, the death penalty is in force against those who would dare to practice these unnatural vices (such as Brunei, Iran, Mauritania, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and northern Nigeria). It is interesting that Islamic countries with great false teaching continue to practice the outlawing of this sin.
Although many countries (especially in the “West” and those indoctrinated by Western philosophies) now permit sodomy or homosexuality, we note that a number of nations continue to prohibit it. In fact, some 81 different countries forbid and condemn this sin. (See, for example, the following:

We think it is extremely sad that some countries not only allow sodomy but also have decriminalized it!)
As we study further, according to the Pew Research organization, the sin of homosexuality has made substantial change. We refer to such places as “the United States, India, South Africa, Japan, South Korea, and Mexico.” We realize that not all of these nations have been fully accepting but besides the traditionally conservative places of the world, these more “liberal” places now permit more and more liberty to practice this sin. The Pew study made this comment: “People in Western Europe and the Americas are generally more accepting than people in Eastern Europe, Russia, Ukraine, the Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa, while people in Asia-Pacific countries are split on the topic.” This would mean that some places are more resistant to this liberalizing trend while other places are more tolerant, especially Western Europe and America. While we know that some would applaud this practice, we (as Christians) would look on this as deeply saddening.
We also find (according to the Pew study) that those who are more educated in the United States, the younger, the non-religious are more accepting of this sin than others. All in all, we do think that this is a detrimental and evil condition that is growing more and more in this world, especially in liberal Europe and in some parts of America.

We realize that there may be some readers who are convinced that we are too “hard” on open sinners in the world. They may think that we should merely accept the status quo and leave the “judging” to God. However, we must realize that God has already revealed His will regarding sin in general. This would include the “popular” sins of our day—including homosexuality. Someone has said that the “status quo” needs to be “unquoed”! We would heartily agree.
Again we realize that there are some sodomites among our readers who perhaps know what God has already revealed in Scripture, but they think that we should speak of all sin and not just certain ones. Of course, this is true. Sin, in general, is condemned by God. “The wages of sin” is death Romans 6:23).
So it is not only homosexuals (or sodomy or lesbianism) that God condemns but all sin—including pride, hypocrisy, deception, lying, false teachings, immorality and a hundred other sins. Thus, we agree that not only homosexuality (as perverse as this is) but all sin is condemned by God and must be exposed by the Lord.
Let us not forget this, my brothers and sisters, for perhaps we are under the mistaken impression that only some perverse, unnatural, or evil sexual sin is condemned. No, all sin that a person does (or thinks, speaks, etc.) will be condemned—unless there is repentance.
We have had to think of all of this as we become aware of unrepentant homosexuals in society (at least in the Western World). For instance, we may know that the renowned pianist of T.V. fame of a past generation was a life-long homosexual. We can’t remember his “partner” or how he died (prematurely?) but he definitely was a sodomite. (Obviously, we refer to the famed “Liberace.”).
There was also the more recent pianist from North Texas known as Van Cliburn, who was a sell-known sodomite. We know that not everyone appreciates my pointing this out, but this was a popular figure who was in unrepentant homosexual.
There was also the Hollywood legend, Johnny Mathis, who could sing so many mellow “hits” years ago. He also was a regular homosexual. Perhaps people do not know of his practice but he freely admitted this.
We might also think of the popular CNN anchorman, Anderson Cooper, who has been known as a sodomite for many years now. He had his own “boyfriend” with whom he committed sodomite acts.
Others with whom you may be familiar would be the following. One day, my wife and I were walking through the local Petco store and prominently displayed as an ad for an animal was Ellen DeGeneres (who is with Portia).
Then there was Jodie Foster, the Hollywood super-star. Others who were sodomites or homosexuals might be Oscar Wild, Fergie, Drew Barrymore, Talula Bankhead, Lady Gaga, Angela Jolie, Marlin Brando, and Richard Pryor.
Let’s not forget the Biden appointee named Pete Buttigeig and his radical sodomite stand, or Kate Brown, the Oregon mayor, who was also a homosexual. These statesmen and others were rank sodomites in public places!
We might also remember the high-profile transgender movie actor and athlete in California. We refer to Caitlyn Marie Jenner. (He was actually William Bruce Jenner–his given name.) Jenner has done so much damage and led the way for other sodomites (or transgender males) whether in California or around the world!
These are some of the homosexuals who might come to mind and (as far as we know) never repented. Again, we are not saying that a sodomite will go to hell and all other sinners will not. Of course not. But we are saying that unless sin is repented, it will condemn one to eternal destruction.
Again, we must remember that a contemporary sodomite is not automatically rejected and condemned (although if they have died and are now gone—they can no longer repent). No, there is hope for anyone who comes to God for His forgiveness through Christ. We are not among those who say that God will accept all people and forgive them. However, we know that Jesus said that “any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven people” if they are willing to repent (Matthew 12:31). Why anyone seeks God’s forgiveness and is sincere, he can be forgiven by a gracious and merciful God.
