The Political Turmoil
Richard Hollerman
As we look out upon the 195+ nations of the world, we realize that each country has its own problems and its serious challenges every year. This is the way it will be until Christ returns!
What do we mean? We’ve learned that Brazil will have its own election and we wonder where that will take them. There are rumors that China’s president is facing a possible overthrow (see my letters to him). President Putin (who just received a letter from me) may be overthrown because of his belligerence and intensified war, with annexation of four new sections of Ukrainian territory. Each country is led by fallible men and women and each has problems—perhaps serious problems.
But we see America, the proverbial “beacon of liberty” and moral integrity, with its continued issues that may lead it down the “primrose path” to utter destruction. There are now serious issues that threaten the peace and new challenges to the status quo. Wherever we look in this world, we see political intrigue and matters that could disrupt at any time. We discover political wickedness and greed in high places. When will it end?
In America, there are is constant animosity between the Democrats and Republicans (and Independents). Probably most professing Christians look at the situation and assume that all of the Democratic Party, with its radical liberal agenda, with its left-leading views, with its immoral stance, is lost, gone, and evil. We just read that all (100%) of the Democrat leadership have taken a decided anti-Christian position. This virtually wipes out 35% to 55% of the leadership! This is half of the nation!
But does this say that the Republicans are all Christians? By no means! This was the party of President Donald Trump with his wicked views and positions, along with his good positions. Trump, we are aware of his bad language, his prideful behavior, his wrongful accusations, and his lies all contaminate him and the party. No, even the leadership here fails to contribute to the Christian cause. Where does this lead the country? We come back to where followers of Christ have always been. We are non-political, non-nationalistic, non-evolutionary, non-worldly, non-secular, non-nationalistic, and are only followers of Christ Jesus.
It was Jesus who said that His followers would be part of a “little flock” (Luke 12:32)—not a large “flock” that dominates the world. We are not part of the world at all (John 18:36). We are ones who refuse to lift the swords against others or harm them (Matthew 5:38-42) and we (as Christians) treat all people with love and respect (cf. 1 Thessalonians 5:15). Will you join us with our stand for God and His peaceful kingdom? We represent God’s reconciling, truthful, and loving ways!
