Richard Hollerman
As mentioned earlier, we are using “blacks” in the way that they would prefer. Beginning in the 1960, there was an earnest effort upon certain ones of this ethnic class to distance themselves from “white” and they begin to call themselves “blacks.” Today, this has become prominent, although other designations are also prominent, such as “African Americans,” (by the way, this promotes the African origin), but also such designations as Afro-Americans (African-Americans), “colored” (but we all are colored in a measure), and blacks (but both whites and blacks share in off-colors). But let’s use “blacks” as we begin our discussion.
I was recently doing some research into this matter, and this term would be a preferred one today. But we would also note that they examined whites, Latinos, blacks, Asians, Hindus, Buddhists, etc. From what we learned in our studies, the “blacks” (as we are calling them) would be the more religious—more than whites, Latinos, and others. In fact, these “others” are religious, yes, but some of them are not at all “Christian” in orientation.
We know (from other reading) that blacks do die about 4-9 years before whites. Also, blacks (at least some of them) are incarcerated more than other ethnicities (perhaps three times as many are in prison). And more blacks smoke, thus contract lung cancer more frequently than others. But since our studies did not differentiate between male and female, from other studies, we learn that black men are more prone to die younger, be incarcerated, and so forth, than others. And we don’t know whether the male or the females are more likely to eat “junk” food and non-nutritious food and take drugs. We just don’t know for sure.
Now notice some of the comments we might make regarding religion and the various churches and religions. For example 94% of “historically black Protestants” would be so inclined. What about “religious traditions”? About 57% of Catholic, and 34% of Latino, 35% of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and 27% of blacks would be so inclined. But if this happens to be a “loaded” term, what about belief in God Himself? 61% of whites, 83% of blacks, 59% of Latinos, and 44% of Asians would affirm this.
Whether belief in God is “very important,” this is something affirmed by 49% of whites, 75% of blacks, 36% of Asians, 59% of Latinos, however, we also find that 13% of whites find that this is not important at all. This is a difference that should be noted. Regarding the importance of religion, some 34% of whites, 47% of blacks, 26% of Asians, and 39% of Latinos would affirm this. We might notice that 33% of whites seldom or never show an interest and even 17% of blacks would show no interest.
Then there is the issue of meeting for worship. Some 52% of whites would consider this important, 73% of blacks, 42% of Asians, and 58% of Latinos. Those who pray at least once a week would be as follows: Whites 22%; blacks, 39%; Asians, 17%; and Latinos, 27%. Is there a clear standard for right and wrong: The following would be the answers: White 36%, blacks, 28%, Asians, 21%, and Latinos, 27%.
Regarding the question of whether the Word of God should be taken literally, we find the following: Whites—26%. Blacks—51%; Asians—19%; and Latinos—38%. Regarding a belief in Hell, we find the following: Whites, 55%; blacks, 73%; Asians 76%; and Latinos, 61%.
We should keep in mind, that there may be a difference in terminology here. There are different kinds and views among the various religious groups. There may also be different emphases placed on the answers by the various ethnic groups. It would also be good to note that these comparisons would be in relationship to what we read in the studies that we have observed. It would be in the context of “Christians” in general, irrespective if their background. They seem to want to call this “race” today, even though we know that there is only one race—the human race—and not two or 2,000 or 6,000!
Thus, the “blacks” of which I write would originally be from Africa. Further, we must not overlook the differences between the males and females. Here we are showing no differences between the two, although we are aware that females may have a higher “Christian” or “spiritual” view of things than males (in general).
Although we know that tests remind us that black women, while registering a higher “Christian” score in many ways, are also higher negatively in many ways also. Am I not correct in thinking that black women are much higher in the feminist camp? And we know that black women are more evil in many respects—but black men also may be wicked in other respects. Vast numbers of black children are raised in single parent homes. This may mean that black men have impregnated black women at a higher rate. Or it may reveal the many black men who are imprisoned.
We also know that black women kill their babies (or “abort” them) very much in life. (This is found in many statistics) While blacks—both men and women (and whites also)—are prone to kill their babies (any touching of a child by a parent is disallowed by God) than others. And this “touching” is related to many sexual sins, as we know.
This article is a reference to “good” blacks and as the statistics above generally show, blacks (African-Americans) do reveal many positives regarding lifestyle. This we must leave with God for He knows all—and will judge all and manifest truth in every way.
