Joyce Meyer and Her Teachings

Joyce Meyer and Her Teachings

Recently I came across the teachings of Joyce Meyer. This preacher, from Missouri, is an influential Word of Faith woman who teaches a number of aberrant doctrines, similar to other Prosperity teachers. She is an interesting teacher/preacher, using the Amplified Version of the Scriptures, rather than a standard literal translation.

We might mention the following:

First, it is unscriptural for a woman to preach and teach publicly (1 Timothy 2:11-15; 1 Corinthians 14:33-37). Meyer preaches all over the world and draws crowds of thousands of men and women.

Second, it is unscriptural for a woman to pray publicly (1 Timothy 2:8). Meyer prays during her presentations, attended by men and women.

Third, it is unscriptural for a woman to occupy such positions as an overseer, elder, shepherd, or preacher (1 Timothy 3:1-8; Titus 1:5-11). Meyer is the head of a huge ministry that occupies a huge facility in Missouri.

Fourth, it is unscriptural for a woman to exercise authority over the man (1 Timothy 2:11-15; 1 Corinthians 11:3-16). Meyer does have authority over multiple men in her ministry.

Fifth, it is unscriptural for a woman to live in absolute affluence as does Meyer. Meyer lives in a huge mansion as does her nearby children. (Mark 10:21-31).

Sixth, it is unscriptural for a woman [or man] to have fellowship with and endorse false teachers and false teachings (1 Corinthians 11:3-4, 13-15; Galatians 1:6-9). Meyer has fellowship with such false teachers as Kenneth Copeland, Joel Osteen, Creflo Dollar, and many other false teachers and false prophets (or false prophetesses).

One reviewer states that Meyer now has a $10 million private jet, has $261,498 worth of furniture, at $3,845.56 per item. The Ministry has purchased million dollar homes for Meyer and her children (

For these and other reasons, we must reject Joyce Meyer, her ministry, her teachings, and her lifestyle.
