Just today we saw a long procession of Roman Catholic people marching on the streets of New York City. These devoted but deceived Catholics consisted of priests, and other Catholic marchers. In one sense it was quite impressive and surely this display attracted attention and made a religious point to the people who watched and the ones who participated.

The march included Catholic nuns, probably Catholic “brothers,” Catholic priests, and Catholic bishops. I suppose that there may have been one hundred of these leaders. And, as I said, they were all dressed in white.

The main reason for the display was to make a point—a religious point. However, from the standpoint of the Catholic Church, the march was all wrong. The participants were very wrong. They were all dressed in their religious garb while people around them were admiring their pious behavior and devout bearing. In fact, nearly everything about this religious display was wrong. It was perverted. And it was not true religion at all, according to Scripture. It may have displayed Catholicism but not New Testament Christianity at all.

The way of Christ was not at all in the parade. Remember that Jesus, our lowly redeemer, did not parade His righteousness before others, although of all people He might have done this. He was without fault, without stain, and without anything that would display a wrongful attitude. Instead, He was humble, kind, pure, and holy. See Hebrews 7:26.

Toward the rear of the parade the so-called “Bishops” could be seen. Of course, from a Biblical standpoint, they were not bishops (meaning “overseers”) and the nuns were not worthy of this position either. Not only did they misapply Scripture but their whole bearing was wrong.

And they did this to promote Catholicism, a false religion and evil way. Not only did they represent a false way, and partake of a false religion, and promote a false way of life, but they encouraged people who needed an example of humility and righteousness. Instead, it solidified the poor religious people who saw this and promoted is false but prideful way of life.

Will you find this sort of wicked display worthy of emulation or will you find this to be something to shun? I wonder.
