Are You for Baby-killing?
Richard Hollerman
We are living in a world in which people believe different things and do different things. We have once again been reminded of this by the recent suicide or self-murder of another human being. Yet, we realize that people are different and believe differently. But is there any objective wrong-doing here?
I was reminded of this by what I read a few moments ago when I learned that about one-fourth of women who believe that they can kill their babies are for abortion. Obviously, they don’t say that a certain number of women are pro-abortion, but that a certain number of women believe in the “right” of a woman to kill her baby. Objectively, we know that a woman has no “right” or permission to murder her child, but this terminology does make the issue more positive, doesn’t it! It “seems” right if we can say that a woman has the “right” to murder her child than it does to say that a woman has the “right” to control her own body. It is only a matter of how we say something!
Personally, I don’t know whether the Supreme Court will eventually overturn the “Roe vs. Wade” decision. We do know that since this decision in 1973 the anti-abortionists have gained momentum and the woman who brought the lawsuit herself has changed her mind. But this means little regarding a decision like this once it has been made. Such organizations as “Planned Parenthood” with their millions of dollars worth of activity can do much. Perhaps these evil forces will continue and the decision for killing babies will never be overturned. We don’t know.
Of course, places like Japan, China, Russia, India, and elsewhere may continue to murder millions of children. Let’s remember that such places are not known for their godliness and conservative values. They seem to not mind if they kill babies. Thus, many millions of their population may continue to hold fast to their views that for the “good of the mothers” they should kill babies.
Let’s not receive the wrong impression here. Although we may tend to want to place all of the blame on the mothers who want to kill their babies, but we must remember that the fathers are also to blame. Further, the heads of government who initiated these positions are also to blame. Also, think of the fathers, the doctors, and even the nurses and their involvement in this matter of killing! Since we are living in a world in which many, many forces are at work to promote sin of all sorts, we can’t place the guilt on one single factor. There are many.
We realize that many anti-abortionists picket Planned Parenthood and similar organizations. However, let’s remember that we are living in an evil world in which thousands of different factors have conspired to do wicked things—including the killing of babies.
Further, there is another factor that must be remembered. It is this: Even if we could stop the killing of babies among the 7 billion people on earth, probably most of these children will grow up and be lost! That’s right. In 6, 8, 10, or 12 years, these children will be older and probably be under God’s judgment for their own personal sin. Is this what we want? Do we really want to know that hundreds of millions of children (whom we have saved by our righteous actions) have been saved to be under the Lord’s godly sentence?
Be very aware of this. We know that we should do all we can to prevent wicked fathers and mothers, doctors and nurses, from killing babies. But, let us remember that what we are doing is to save innocent babies from death but in so many years those same babies will be grown up and be under sin and judgment according to God’s righteous ways!
We definitely are living in a strange world with strange outcomes to good ways. This includes saving babies from the knife of the perverted parents who want to kill their babies. Let us commit this to God, do what we can, and seek the Lord’s will.
