How Abortion is Found in the USA

Richard Hollerman

One state after state has now approved abortion. We wonder about this and wonder why. Do you? Abortion? Yes, this means killing or murdering a baby. But let’s discuss this further!

First, we know that if only one percent of people vote and they all voted for the approval of abortion, this would not make the procedure or outcome right. It is wrong, per se, regardless of how many approve of this murder.

Second, we realize that “abortion” is a loaded term. We wonder why we read nothing of killing a baby or infanticide. Instead we find a neutral or even a medical term used to refer to this murder. Is this right? Is it being honest?

Third, we know that most of those seeking abortion or the killing of her offspring are those who are in their teens and twenties. As we understand the situation, those who are in their thirties, forties, and older would oppose this. From these facts we realize that young people are accepting this murder in larger numbers than older folks.

Fourth, we know that these young people are generally women. Does this mean that men are not involved? We know that this is not the case for it does take two people to generate a baby. We wonder whether men are not as involved or that they would approve this killing (which is hard to believe), or what? Perhaps men realize that they would be responsible for raising the child. And we know that these irresponsible men know that they would need to support the child for twenty years (until age 20 or so).

Perhaps another reason would be that girls know that their “friends” (partners in this killing and in the sexuality that goes with it) would approve, support or condone this killing.

A further reason for this slaughter might be that young peole are simply not interested in what God thinks or what the Bible says. They are more interested in the “thrill” of the moment rather than the eternal consequences of this immorality.

Could it also be that those who are younger (20s, 30s, teens, etc.) are more interested in the sexuality of this immoral activity than they are in keeping pure, clean, and free from blame before marriage and pregnancy. We would think that this would be one of the motivations.

A further issue would be the fact that many young people may think that their friends and immoral companions would approve of this procedure.

Yes, it could well be that organizations such as “Planned Parenthood” (we understand that this is the largest abortion provider in America) urge this murder and young people accept this reasoning. But whether this is so it doesn’t change the facts of the case.

A further issue would be that teachers and professors of those in high school, college, and the university might promote, endorse and urge abortion on those who are under them. Yes, this would be immoral, but these non-moral instigators would hold sway over the wills and ideas of students, Hence, we find murder being promoted by these people.

Another issue would be peer pressure among young people, if a 14 or 16 or 18 year old person thinks that their friends might well approve, endorse, and urge abortion, we think that these young people might well be persuaded to have it herself (or himself).

A further issue would be the parents. We think that many fathers and mothers may urge their children to have this killing procedure to avoid embarrassment and to avoid the stigma and even the consequences of this murder.

We realize that many or even most young people are in “higher education” therefore, an abortion would keep them from their plans. Just get rid of the child and get along with one’s life is the view.

Of course, we know that there are other reasons why abortion (the killing of a baby) would be considered allowable and even preferable. With the liberal views of religious leaders, they may encourage this killing rather than seeking solutions in a moral way.

We know that this might be considered “the easy way out” rather than bearing the baby full term. It takes very little time to kill one’s baby but it may take 20 or 22 years to raise the child to maturity. Further, it may be that killing a child would be less expensive than the thousands (even hundreds of thousands) it may take to bear the child and raise him or her.

We think that there have been “horror stories” of children born and have birth defects, or birth issues, or the fact that the child rejects the parent. Some (and probably the majority) would think that this rejection is “not worth the trouble” or “not worth the possibility of rejection, thus the mother (or father, or both) may choose to kill the baby.

We wonder this also. The use of “abortion” seems so “clean” and “right” rather than the more honest approach that says that a mother (or father) chooses to kill the child. The same may be true of such terms as “immorality” or “premarital intercourse.”

Again, this sounds legal instead of immoral. We think that governmental approval of this murder may play a role in this acceptance. Before abortion was legalized in 1973, we think that mothers might have “backed away” from this murder. Now it seems acceptable and “right” (if the government approves of this). Thus, if 60 million babies are slain each year in America, it would seem permissible. And if many more millions or even billions are killed around the world, again it would seem permissible.

Along with the financial factor that some use in combatting the bearing of children and the killing of babies, we know that young people are looking for “the easy way out” of this dilemma. With so many pro-life organizations today, we wonder whether those who choose to murder their infants are “aiding and abetting” this murder. On the other hand, we know that it does take much money to bring a child into the world. If people knew that it may take $10,000 to give birth do a child and an additional half million to raise the child to adulthood, we wonder. And if there were 6, 8, or 10 children, and perhaps a medical issue with one or 8 of them, then we wonder still. These immoral parents may think twice about bearing a child under these circumstances.

Yes, we assume that if the parents were to realize the weighty responsibility of bringing a child into the world and raising him or her rightly, there may be a greater hesitancy about engaging in immoral behavior. Perhaps instead of killing the baby the issue of abortion (or the murder of the baby) would be solved!

These would be some of the reasons why people (young people and older) would want to kill their babies. In the past, we think that mothers would want to protect their babies. But not any more. Now they want to kill them and get rid of them. In this way, they would avoid the “problems” involved in abortion. This would be immoral, unkind, and wrong!

What do you think?
