Richard Hollerman

Recently we read an historical account of warfare (this would have been by Jesse Greenspan). (By the way, the article says that this Arthur is a “Bay Area-based” person—which says something about his liberal (or ultra-liberal) stance! You may wonder what benefit there is for the Christian to learn this but we learned how dreadfully wrong it is to rely on the History Channel and other worldly venues.

According to this defective site, people (at first) engaged in warfare “in the very broadest sense.” This is according to Luke Lowacki. According to this site, “agriculture emerged in the Fertile Crescent some 12,000 years ago. (If the population began to spread about 2,450 years ago (according to God’s word) we know that this figure is wrong. According to this site, “massacre” began about 10,000 years ago (this would be about 8,000 BC).

Germany, Austria, Croatia, and France would have had warfare at this time. Jericho built city walls as early as 8000 BC.  Perhaps at first only 20 or 30 people were involved in the early conflicts or warfare. But Northern Spain had signs of a larger warfare 5,400 to 5,000 years ago (this would be about 3,400 years ago, according to this (wrongful) scheme. At the time of the spread of agriculture and irrigation (at this time) warfare spread even further. Then came copper tools and weapons and larger armies. Formal leaders also were needed.

Sumerian warfare and Egyptian warfare soon emerged. This (according to the article) was in 2500 to 3000 BC. Greece, Peru, Mexico, and China have also been found (for this period). Thus, warfare spread.

We know, of course, that this chronology is all wrong and should be dated somewhat later. (It is totally skewed.) We know that this source is worldly in nature, but warfare has been around for a long time. Even if this began in 1,000 BC or 2,000 BC or later, instead of later still, yet it has been ongoing and brutal. This mayhem has been around for many years. It seems that people are constantly at war and they can’t easily get along with one another.

This is something that is documented in Scripture. There we learn that even before the great Noaic flood (2,450 BC) there was wickedness and fighting between people. (See Genesis 6.) This has only accelerated since that time. In the period before Christ and the period after Jesus, one nation rose against another and another war would erupt. The past century or two has seen Warfare and nationalism increase even more. Today, we know that many nations are at war with each other (think of Russia, Ukraine, China, India, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Rwanda, Israel, and elsewhere).

The Scriptural injunction about loving each other and avoid hating each other has been greatly violated. Yes, we know that Communism, Japanese culture, Islam, the European culture, Catholicism, the various Protestant sects, and a hundred other countries, cultures and ethnicities are at fault.

But this is the way of humanity. It is so different from the way of Christ! It must be found in the makeup of governments without Jesus.
