Richard Hollerman
After what I read yesterday, I sadly must say that there is a complete loss of reality in media.
I read a rather long article of an archaeological expedition to Peru by a Scandinavian author. He (or she) said that this person spent a lot of time (was it some years?) to produce this work. This Andean find was of a young girl (I think that the article said 12 to 14 years old) who was given drugs to dull her pain. Finally so many thousand feet up the Andean mountain, she was murdered by Incan leaders who were idolaters. And I think that this young girl lived about 500 years ago. Supposedly, this was an idolatrous ritual and this “iron maiden” drew the attention of an archeologist.
I felt sad and sorrow as well as anger and holy opposition to such brutality and false religion. Yes, she was assaulted and slain by false teachers. I looked into her face (as created by the archaeologists) and had mixed feelings, of course.
It was cruel of them to kill this young girl. And, of course, we need to bear in mind that she consented to this barbaric act. I don’t know, but probably she knew what awaited her at the end of her earthly journey. It must have been a “glorious” experience for her—even though she must have known that she would never bear children. And she would never see the “light of day” again. So we have the extreme cruelty of false leaders, the cruelty of rankly false religion, and idolatry. But as I thought about this, I had to admit that there was a revelation of God’s will in all of this.
The false Spanish Catholic Church and the false Catholic priests were at fault—surely. And the idolatry was also wrong and to be rejected! (
Exodus 20:3; Deuteronomy 6; Matthew 4:10.) (1 Thessalonians 1:7-9; Revelation 14:10-11; 20:11-15; 21.) All of this had the end in Hades and then Hell. But not only is idolatry and false religion wrong and sinful, we must also understand that this religion is and was the “mother” of false Catholicism (and the false idolatry associated with this). (We must also remember the wickedness of Mariolatry, the worship of Joseph and the Catholic “saints” and the rest.)
The article stated that before the Incas (ca. 1200 BC) and the Catholics (ca. 1500 BC), but there were many others at this time and earlier who rejected God and His will. We remember that Jesus Himself was born about 5 BC and died about 30 AD but this was only the beginning. There may have been an American presence a thousand years earlier, although this is somewhat doubtful.
What prevailed in Peru (the area of our study), was also in all of South America, and also in Central America, and North America even earlier. But they were here and spread to many other nations. (We also recall that years earlier, at the time of Noah, God wiped out all of the people on earth through a huge deluge.)
Of course, as I was thinking, I had to consider other false religions. For example a false teacher from Arabia, led millions to false religion and eventually the present-day 2 billion people of the Middle East. Over the past 1,300 years, how many people have been led astray and then to Hades, as well as to Hell, we really wonder and don’t know the answer! But surely the total number would be in the billions and some of them!
What about the “Incan Maiden” about which we began? She must have been murdered, by clubbing and hallucinogenics, some 500 years ago. It was cruel and inhuman! She did this willingly (apparently) but it was still wrong. It was murder! And people have been murdered ever since. In fact, this must have been in the thousands and millions more slain!
The world knows and understands. But in no way does this justify the atrocity.
What do you think?
