We wonder how one can misunderstand what God, through the Holy Spirit, has clearly revealed in Scripture. In order to understand this more fully, we had to check Scripture, and I have the Bible before me for this purpose. I see that 1 Corinthians 11 clearly says:

Judge for yourselves: is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? 14 Does even nature itself not teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him, 15 but if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her? For her hair is given to her as a covering. (vv. 13-15, NASB).

Doesn’t this clearly say that a woman (who obeys God) should have long hair and refuse to have short hair? Doesn’t it say that “nature” says this? Doesn’t it say that when a woman prays, she should cover her head? Doesn’t it speak of a woman’s hair?

Yet, I wonder, why is it that so many woman don’t have long hair, and why is it that women refuse (yes, this is a well-chosen word) to have such long hair?

Yet, we are speaking about women to refuse to have such long hair and insist on having short hair. Do they do this on purpose? Do they have no conscience? Do they think that the Scriptural directives are limited to the first century? Or are they totally unconcerned and perhaps ignorant of this? Or what? We wonder!

Whatever the reason, we know (and so do you) that the majority of women in America (I am not sure outside of America, Europe, and such places) have short hair. We may think that this is a “small” thing but is it anything “small” in God’s sight and according to His will? (See Luke 16:10.)

Go to a store. Or a public place, and look. See the women around you. Do they have long hair? Do they have short hair? Personally (and with God’s viewpoint) we not only find this disgusting but also a shame and disgrace. As God says in Scripture, the woman should have long hair—and that is it.

Women, generally, knew this and followed this a century ago (until the so-called “Roaring twenties” and the “bobbed hair” craze). Until this time, women had enough sense to let their hair grow long and they looked like women. Real women.

Today, regretfully and sadly, we find millions of women who are totally unconcerned with what Scripture says about this subject—and many other subjects. We find this sadly unconscionable and unreasonable. God knows what He said and He said it “loud and clear.” Is it clear?
