Richard Hollerman
The average age that a person lives would be 70 to 80 or even 90 years. This could range from age 70 to 90 or even 100 and then they die. And that is the end. Of course, we know that it is not the absolute end (unless we happen to believe in the foolish choice of being an atheist), but it is the end as far as our life on earth is concerned. Then what?
If you were to happen to be age 50 (for instance), you would have about 40 years remaining until you die (on average), with some living shorter and some living longer lengths of lime. But on average, a person will live about 30 or 40 more years. If he is quite long-lived, we know this could be sixty, or seventy, eighty, or ninety years. But this would be forty years (from age 50 to 90). Again, we just don’t know how long one will live in total—whether it be 30 or 60 or 90 or more years. But it will definitely come to an end!
If you happen to be an atheist who doesn’t believe in God and think that your life will soon end (regretfully so and mistakenly so) we know that this still means that you will probably live for fewer than 100 years. If God wants you to live until you are 1,000 years old, this would be 900 years more (or fewer). If you were to live another 10,000 years, this would be another 9,900 years. And we know that the actual number would be endless. In other words, we will go on and on and on, endlessly!
We say this in light of Mathew 25:46 which says that the coming “punishment” for the sins committed will be “eternal” and the righteous will go on for and endless duration, for “eternal life.” Actually, we know that “eternal punishment” and “eternal life” refers to more than duration but it is a punishment and life that not only go on endlessly but this means that this will be endless pain and anguish, on the one hand, and endless “life” that will go on and on, endlessly, on the other hand. It will be a quality or nature of death and life that we must face, either for those who die in sin or for those righteous who live for God.
Thus, we were to rule out the fact that people will be gone in ten, or twenty, or thirty, or forty years, we know that even this will end. People will come to an end of their earthy days and then face the eternal future. Are you ready? Are you prepared?
We think it is the height of foolishness for a person to live on earth and not be prepared for the future. Yes, there are many who will be like this and fail to make preparations for the future. And there are many who refuse to make adequate preparations for their coming days. Many are totally oblivious to the future. Muslims mistakenly think that they will face Allah in judgment, Buddhists are atheists, Hindus believe in reincarnation, Catholics think that they will go to purgatory, and most Protestants fail to really prepare for the future. They think that they will go to heaven or a place of blessedness.
Sadly, all of these people are wrong. Those who disbelieve (the atheists) are wrong and will be wrong when they die. And all others, including those who believe in “reincarnation” will also be wrong, eternally wrong.
Friend, I solemnly ask you and earnestly seek your answers. Are you prepared? Are you ready for the future? When you die, are you ready to face God in judgment? Now is the time to make yourself ready for the future. Tomorrow may be too late.
