We know that there are massive departures from the Word of God today. Of course, I refer not to the Old Testament (the old covenant) writings but to the New Testament (the new covenant writings). What do we mean by this?

I have a website and do use Facebook. Both of these venues put me into contact with a great number of people. And it would seem that many of them are very confused regarding how we are to interpret the Bible and what it says. It says one thing and they might think that it says something else. Or they fail to see what it actually says and teaches. This is so sad.

Although there may be a hundred different examples, this is but one of them. Somehow, what God says about male leadership or headship seems to either be overlooked or denied. We find women (and men) promoting female leadership and headship. Yet we know, from the New Testament, that the woman is to be quiet in the assemblies, is to be under the men (the males), particularly the husbands, and is to take a retiring role as wife and mother. See particularly 1 Corinthians 11:3-16; Ephesians 5:21-33; Colossians 3:18-19; 1 Timothy 2:11-15; 3:1-7; Titus 2:4-5; 1 Peter 3:1-7.

But it would seem that people simply don’t get this. Either because of the prevalence of the Charismatic movement, the influence of the Methodist movement, or modern religion, we find that people simply don’t “get it” and quite simply deny what the Bible says. They seemingly would rather accept modern society and at least some modern preachers rather than the 2,000 year old instructions of Paul, Peter, Jesus, and others.

In my outreach to others, we must also observe that there is a massive rejection of male and female attire. We refer to dozens of examples here but they are all applicable. As far as head coverings, we know that men are to have short hair and women are to have long hair. Further, we know that the woman is to cover her head when praying or teaching or prophesying, whereas the man is not.

We know that they are to be modest and this does away with tattoos, jewelry, etc. Further, we know that the woman (and man) is not to dress in a provocative way or an immodest and indecent way, whereas the man is also to be careful in how he clothes himself. We know that the woman (and men) are to dress in a subdued way and not a “loud” or immodest way. (See 1 Timothy 2:9-15; 1 Peter 3:1-7; etc.)

All of this, of course, is based on the Bible (particularly the New Testament), although we are aware that many go back to the Old Testament to establish their cause. But we encourage you to seek for answers from your own Bible and follow the instructions, according to God’s will.
