The Deception of the Rosary
Thousands of Roman Catholics think that they Pray “the Rosary” to Mary!
Richard Hollerman
We realize that not every Roman Catholic person prays to Mary, the mother of Jesus. Yet we must admit that this is part of the Catholic dogma that people seem to remember. Because of this, we assume that of the 1.3 billion people who profess to be Roman Catholics in the world, many of them actually do address Mary in Prayer. Is this right? Is this sane? Is this what God would want? Is this pleasing to God and required of Him?
Since this happens so often, we would like to briefly address this. Just yesterday I received a message (as I often do) that says we should pray to Mary for answers to the multiple problems of the wickedness of this world. In part, we find the following:
On Oct. 15, the America Needs Fatima campaign held 21,544 Public Square Rosary Rallies nationwide. From Connecticut to California and from Florida to Washington and from South Dakota to Hawaii, Rally captains enthusiastically reported on the impact of their rallies upon the public. Over two thousand affiliate rallies were held in Canada, South Africa, and Australia.
The goal of this America Needs Fatima campaign is to pray for supernatural solutions to the problems that plague the nation, which are the results of sin and decadence. Following the requests of Our Lady at Fatima, participants are asked to pray the Rosary, bearing witness in a public place about the need for prayer, sacrifice, and amendment of life.
Probably many of you, along with me, might applaud the massive turn-out for this event. But, at the same time, we might be saddened by parts of this. Here are 21,544 “rallies” the promote the Rosary, for instance. This false practice, which was begun several centuries ago, may be defined in this way:
The Holy Rosary (/ˈroʊzəri/; Latin: rosarium, in the sense of “crown of roses” or “garland of roses”), also known as the Dominican Rosary, or simply the Rosary, refers to a set of prayers used in the Catholic Church, and to the physical string of knots or beads used to count the component prayers. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosary).
Is this really God’s will? Of course, those who are mindful of God’s will in this matter and others, know that this is an abomination before our God. It is a false “tradition” of man, that seeks to overthrow the will of God who wants us to worship Him “in spirit and truth” (John 4:23-24). It is a tradition that serves to overthrow the Word God and the will of God (Matthew 15:3-14; Mark 7:8-13; cf. Colossians 2:8).
Although flowers, such as the rose, are creations of God and are beautiful, we also know that this part of God’s creation may be used in an unlawful or wicked way. This is what the Roman Catholic Church has done with the so-called “Rosary.” And the prayers, rather than spontaneous utterances, given by humble souls to God, or to Christ, are transformed from simple petitions and expressions of worship into standardized “prayers” that reach no higher than the ceiling!
Further, let us establish definitely that Mary is Dead. We repeat, Mary is dead. Even if a billion people, such as Catholics, may think that they are talking to this dear, innocent, and sweet woman, we know that she doesn’t hear any of them. Especially, this would be true of people who are part of a heretical system.
Scripture says that “the wages of sin are death” (Romans 6:23). We also read: “As in Adam all die” (1 Corinthians 15:22a). All people who have died have “fallen asleep” (15:18). Death is the common lot of all people who are alive (Romans 5:12; Hebrews 11:13), and Scripture says that “death spread to all men, because all sinned” (v. 12). When will we learn that Mary, along with all others, have died and cannot hear a single word! Even if an apostate church should teach that if a certain person in history rose from death and is in heaven and therefore is able to “hear” our prayers, we know that this is false. It is a lie. A theological and religious lie.
We might make exceptions regarding the two who seem to have gone to heaven without dying, such as Elijah (2 Kings 2:3, 8, 11; Hebrews 11:5) and Enoch (Genesis 5:22-24). Other that this, all have died—and this would include Mary, the mother of Jesus. This woman, the mother of five sons and at least two (or more) daughters (Matthew 13:55-56;Mark 6:3), cannot hear the prayers of any person, regardless of how devout thea Catholic may be.
We know that God forbids us from worshiping or praying to anyone other than God, through Christ, in the Holy Spirit. Notice especially Exodus 20:3-7 and Deuteronomy 5:7-10. The Lord Jesus Himself has said, “You shall worship the LORD your God, and serve Him only” (Matthew 4:10). We are not to speak to or worship Mary or any other entity in heaven, and this would include angels. Thus, it is considered an abomination for anyone to think that he or she is speaking to or worshiping Mary! It is heretical. It is pagan. It is evil. And it surely is unbiblical or unscriptural.
Yet we know that for 21,544 groups of Catholics this prayer to Mary (with the Rosary) is a very real matter. They are utterly deceived, of course, but these dear people think that they are serving the Lord in this way. We know, that people may “think” that they are serving God, but they may be utterly deceived in this (see John 16:2). In the announcement of these religious “rallies,” we see numerous smiling Catholics who think that they are devoted to this humble Galilean peasant woman and think that she is now “Queen of Heaven” but, sadly, they are greatly deceived. Surely, they are deceived by the enemy of their souls (Satan) who would want them to be led astray from the purity of devotion to God (see Revelation 12:9; 1 John 5:19). Large banners were in display that would proclaim the need to pray the “Rosary” for the good of America and the world.
Regardless of the sincerity of these dear people and the amount of time and effort and expense that they went through to make this outreach possible, we know that this effort was not only useless but was an effort against the living God who forbids this idolatry! Let us worship God and Him alone! Let us cast aside the worship of Mary through the Rosary!
