Can True Christians Believe in the Theory of Evolution?
Richard Hollerman
“What do you think of the theory of evolution as the origin of life and all things? More and more people seem to be embracing this conviction. Should we?”
As I was examining the various offerings that the Internet had to offer under the subject of Evolution, I was astounded. Yes, literally shocked to learn that nearly all of the offerings must have come from government sources (and the American government urges us to accept evolution) or from educational sources (and, sadly, colleges and universities as well as the kindergarten to 12th grade) and these would be mostly evolutionary! Further, we know that a few liberal (shall I say, “ultra liberal”) religion sites are also evolutionary in orientation. I don’t know what is left but of the perhaps 30 to 40 places I noted were all evolutionary. I had to wonder:
- Although I in no way would agree with false doctrine, religiously, I can see why certain religions would say that America is evil to the core.
- I could also see that in America the false view of evolution has nearly all of the educational places under control. (I doubt that there are any exceptions.) We refer to most government educational institutions, not the smaller creationist locations.
- Surely, the entertainment sector (such as Hollywood, radio, etc.) must also be controlled by evolutionary theories. Let’s also include the major publishing houses!
- Even religion (at least liberal religion) has evolutionary views that are propagated by the Internet and other venues.
As you might imagine, I was somewhat dismayed by this sway that utter unbelief has consumed the Internet as well as many other aspects of mass media. In fact, I found this quite sad for several reasons, among which would be:
First, what has happened to America? We know that certain places (particularly in South America, Africa, the Middle East, and so forth) forbid this teaching, yet it is freely promulgated in the United States.
Second, at one time (until the famous trial in the 1920s) it was illegal to promote this false theory. Eventually the tentacles of this false theory gained support (particularly in the educational, the governmental, and other realms) so that it became illegal to promote anything other than evolution.
Third, as early as the eighteenth century, evolution (through the lies of Charles Darwin, Charles Lyell, etc.) gained traction and captivated more and more people and institutions—and even liberal religion.
Fourth, even religion (in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries) were affected and became dominated by the false evolutionary views that increasingly affected opinions.
Fifth, this false theory reached out tentacles in a way that nearly all aspects of society were affected.
Sixth, only smaller groups in America retained a semblance of a belief in Scripture and opposed these false “scientific” theories.
Some may point out that still half of the populace still retain a belief in Scripture (sadly, even those who remain in organized religions may oppose Scripture in this and accept false scientific views). The better-educated, secularized, and younger peoples seem to be willing to accept evolution and consequently reject Scripture.
We must go on to explore other aspects of this problem but this is sufficient for us to see that our modern world has rejected God and His Word and been willing to accept deceived scientists who promote the evolution of living things from nothing to living, breathing, thinking human beings.
