Are we to Fight “fire with fire”?
This morning we have read an article that says, “31 people with ties to White nationalist group arrested for conspiracy to riot near a Pride parade in Idaho’ By Andy Rose, CNN Updated 4:58 PM ET, June 12, 2022.
According to what the article says,
Idaho police officers arrested 31 people Saturday who are believed to be affiliated with the White nationalist group Patriot Front, after they were seen gathering near a Pride parade in the city of Coeur d’Alene, authorities said.
“It is clear to us based on the gear that the individuals had with them, the stuff they had in their possession, the U-Haul with them along with paperwork that was seized from them, that they came to riot downtown,” Coeur d’Alene Police Chief Lee White said during a news conference.

As you might imagine, we (as Christians) have mixed emotions and views regarding such a report as this. I have no idea who Andy Rose is, but we assume that he is a leading liberal commentator and non-Christian writer. Maybe you know more about this than I do.
We read further:
The people who were arrested were all wearing similar clothing associated with Patriot Front, including identical insignia, and there was at least one smoke grenade in their possession, police said.
According to the Anti-Defamation League, Patriot Front is a white supremacist group whose members maintain their ancestors conquered America and left it to them. The group split from another white supremacist group, Vanguard America, in late August 2017, per the ADL.
White said the group was equipped with “shields, shin guards and other riot gear with them,” along with papers he described as “similar to an operations plan that a police or military group would put together for an event.” (Ibid.)

As you might imagine, we have a few things to say about this current event that just happened. We do have both positive and negative comments and, as Christians, we think that we should share both of these with you.
First, I really don’t know anything about this apprehended group known as “The Patriotic Front.” Nor do we know anything about the sister group they have called “Vanguard America.” As Christians, we are to avoid this sort of confrontation and are to keep away from this kind of activity. Thus we must distance ourselves from such a group.
Second, the article says that this is a “white nationalist” group that again we must condemn. We know that God’s people are from around the world, and now the world contains 8 million people (compared to only 350 million in America). We believe that the Lord’s people are (as the children’s song goes) “red, and yellow, black, brown, and white.” Although we may be under the impression that more Christians are found in a certain ethnic group, they come from all of them.
Third, we don’t know our national history well enough, but it may be true that when America began most of the population were from England and perhaps from Scotland. Other groups (such as the Jews, with perhaps 1% of the population) were of a fewer number. But before long, blacks from far western Africa came. Germans came in the 1700s and later, in the 1840s), Irish, and others came also.
But for this group to say that the Patriotic Front “owns” America, we beg to differ. While perhaps whites were predominate at the beginning (after many pagan tribes settled in the land), it didn’t stay this way for very long. Within a century after the nation’s settling and founding, others were also here. Today it is a “melting pot” of various countries and colors and nationalities. We can’t claim that “whites” (especially from England and then Scotland) “own” America any more than others can.
Fourth, it is true that this “white supremacist” group had a noble purpose. Yet it is too late for all of this. How many of them are there? The numbers are in the hundreds or perhaps thousands. As for homosexuals or sodomites (of which there are hundreds of thousands or even several million), it is very wicked for this group of perverts to exist, we know, and the law should surely outlaw all forms of sexual perversion and evil, but legally apparently this is permitted to exist.
We know that this perspective (which is unquestionably evil, immoral, and perverse) is supported by the “Anti-Defamation League.” This brings a “red flag” to it all for this organization is wicked itself and those that are supported by it are suspect. Sadly, we must reject their involvement in opposing this opposition (which itself is wrong and immoral).
If it is true that these 31 individuals from various states had plans to riot and do evil, this in itself was wrong (as all Christians must admit). Further, although Idaho does have a reputation of being conservative and moral, we know that this particular city also has a reputation of being liberal and evil. We wanted to comment on this shortly.
Fifth, we find it interesting that an organization that purports to “reclaim America” (which may be good) is itself an evil organization. We have seen that false religion is part of The Patriot Front which is nonsensical and hypocritical. How can an evil (fire) fight another evil (fire)? How can false religion fight the wickedness of radical sodomy/homosexuality? It really makes no sense and must be seen as such. Yes, it is evil for any sexual immorality to exist (especially for that which outspokenly denounces the truth and morality) and then do wrong themselves?
Of course, there are many other elements that we could comment upon at this time, but for now, consider the following:
- The Christian is not part of any group—whether it is a “paramilitary” group or a sodomite group.
- We, as believers, owe our allegiance only to the Lord and to no one else.
- We seek to be moral, good, and display all of the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) and not the wickedness or perversion of these sodomites or homosexuals.
- We want to be holy and right (Ephesians 5:1-2) and not immoral or evil at all times, regardless of whether we are in view of others or not.
- We want to avoid “pride” of all kinds, for this is a deed of the flesh that will condemn (Proverbs 16:5, 18).
- We want to treat others with respect and kindness (1 Thessalonians 5:15).
- We realize that when God created the world and even the universe (Genesis 1; Colossians 1:16-17), He created it perfect. He “opened” it up for others to come and populate it (Genesis 1:9) and this included immigrants (whom we call “Indians”)
- When the “whites” from Britain and soon the Scotch came in the 1600s, and also moved into the land where the various Indian tribes had already settled, they (the Indians) didn’t “own” the land at all. God owned the land (Psalm 24:1)!
- Even though the “Parade” organizers were evil people, we are not to “demand” that they acquiesce.
Notice also:
- Sadly we must recognize that the Patriot Front and Vanguard America members are not true Christians. Although they may be religious, they are not saved.
- Also, sadly, even though these sodomites (homosexuals) are perverted and evil, we must issue a disclaimer. Even though they are claiming to exercise their “rights” God has not given them any rights at all to sin. In other words, God does not allow anyone who sins to claim superiority over others.
- We are never to do wrong (kill, maim, riot, etc.) to do “right” in the land (to obscure justice and to promote good order).
- We must also realize that other countries (perhaps more evil than the United States) are watching and listening to how professing Christians respond to moral evil. When we do wrong, we should never do this to promote good (cf. Romans 3:8)
Let us respond to this event with the mind of Christ (Romans 2:16; Philippians 2:5). There is no other way. Even though we live in a fallen and wicked world, we are to be lights to this world that dwells in darkness (Matthew 5:14-16; Philippians 2:15-16) and do what is good.
The question for us is, are we to “fight fire with fire”? Are we to fight the “fire” of evil and immorality and perversion with our own “fire” of military and violent behavior? We know the answer. Or are we to be “blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you [we] appear as lights in the world” (Philippians 2:15)?
