Is it Pride?

Another report wrongly assesses the “news” of the week. We continue to be amazed at how wrong the news broadcasts can be understanding the report on the “news” of the world.

We read this note from Time magazine for May 10-17 (2021): “The State Department authorized U.S. embassies around the world to fly the Pride flag, rolling back a Trump Administration rule in a diplomatic cable reported April 22.”

We can know something about this but there would also be something that we don’t know.

First, of course, we know that those who are practicing homosexuals (whom they wrongly call “Gay”) will one day be cast into hades (later hell) unless these people choose to repent (cf. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10). We think that this news outlet either doesn’t believe God or chose to overlook what the Lord has revealed.

We also note that this symbol has been chosen by the U.S. embassy to allow the flag to be displayed around the world. The flag has been defined as: “A piece of cloth, usually rectangular, of distinctive color and design, used s a symbol, standard, signal, or emblem” (The American Heritage College Dictionary). We probably all recognize what a “flag” is but we may not know its significance.

Since this was an official pronouncement, we conclude that the present liberal administration allowed President Trump’s forbidding this display to be rescinded. It would seem that the present liberal and evil administration is either allowing or permitting or even requiring this symbol to be displayed around the world. Of course, the Christian is totally disappointed by this display. It grieves us very much. And it does show how far America has come from the “Christian” origins of several centuries ago.

Further, we notice that America has officially permitted or forced the offices around the world to display a “Pride” flag. As followers of Christ, we know that pride is a work of the flesh that Christ calls an “evil” thing that “proceeds from within and defiles the man” (see. Mark 7:21-23).

God has much to say about pride. On the one hand, the embassies around the world are to display a “pride” flag; on the other hand, God says that pride if foolishness. And the Scriptures say that this is a deed of the flesh that will pull us down to destruction! The interested reader may wish to consult such Biblical passages as: Psalm 10:4; Proverbs 11:2; 1 John 2:16; Proverbs 16:5; 8:13; 16:18; James 4:6; Proverbs 21:4; 26:12; and 1 Peter 5:5.

Regardless of what President Biden (or past president Obama) says about this sin, God calls it foolishness and evil. It will surely condemn many people. We are not saying by this that we approve of everything that President Trump did or does, but at least we can say that he did right in outlawing the pride flag!

Let’s remember this: Although many people in America may call something “Prideful” still this pride will drag a person to hell. It may be that “pride” is a bad thing and something to be rejected, but we do know that pride is a sin that condemns!  Scripture still says, “Clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble” (1 Peter 5:5). It must be a heinous sin to have God reject one because he or she is “proud”!

We can also see that at least some in higher positions are totally upside-down in their view of things. The news article says that this pride or sinful sexuality is “good news of the week.” What! Something that will condemn and cast one into hades is part of the “good news” that will condemn one! Isn’t this perverted thinking? And yet it seems to be the “law of the land” and will be so as long as the present administration requires it.

Yes, the sodomites may think that sinful sexuality is a good thing but we believe that people working at Time magazine should know better. Hopefully, these people should know that something wicked cannot be “good”! It is bad and only bad, and nothing else!

We encourage you to read your Bibles and consider once again what God has said about sin (cf. Romans 6:23) and the result of sin. We can and should be ashamed about what our country has become over the years. Now is the time to run to God with repentance! This sin may be acceptable in England, in France, in Germany, and elsewhere, but it grieves God in heaven!
