Bruce Willis and His Unbelief
Richard Hollerman
We know that many Hollywood actors may achieve the pinnacle of success but in their relationship with God, they are totally bankrupt, empty, and ignorant of truth. We think of this in regard to Bruce Willis, a megastar whom many people know and adore.
Willis was born on March 19, 1955 in West Germany. He has appeared in more than 70 movies—and others continue to be produced! We read this about his financial income and holdings:
Actor and musician Bruce Willis is well known for playing wisecracking or hard-edged characters, often in spectacular action films. Collectively, he has appeared in films that have grossed in excess of $2.5 billion USD, placing him in the top ten stars in terms of box office receipts. Although Willis has only been married two times, he has lived with others and been in relationships with others. https://www.empireonline.com/people/bruce-willis/) He is also the father of various children, from these wives and mistresses.
But what about any religious connections or inclinations that Willis may have? This is what we can know in this regard. Sadly, Bruce is outspoken in his rejection of religious views and his acceptance of total unbelief.
Willis was a Lutheran at some point,[79] but no longer practices. In a July 1998 interview with George magazine, he stated: “Organized religions in general, in my opinion, are dying forms. They were all very important when we didn’t know why the sun moved, why weather changed, why hurricanes occurred, or volcanoes happened. Modern religion is the end trail of modern mythology. But there are people who interpret the Bible literally. Literally! I choose not to believe that’s the way. And that’s what makes America cool, you know?”
It may make America “cool” according to Willis, but it grieves the heart of God and, beyond this, this is what angers God who gives us life! For us to turn our backs on Him when He has given us so very much makes such a rejection by His creatures all the more despicable!
We know that countless people around the world seem to idolize this favorite Hollywood star, this means nothing in light of God’s acceptance or rejection. Millions do admire this favorite actor, but this means nothing in light of God’s own estimation. And this is what counts. This is what will either bring God’s approbation or His rejection (cf. Matthew 25:46). What would you like: our Creator’s approval or His denial? Let us turn to Him while we may (1 Thessalonians 5:9-10; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10)?
