A Catholic Letter and Our Response

bible reading (20)

[Yesterday, a Catholic reader from Italy wrote to me with a serious objection to our article denying the doctrine of the “perpetual virginity of Mary.” This writer may be a Catholic apologist or priest or someone in authority; I simply don’t know. I responded to his inquiry, as you will notice below. With the hope that my response will be of interest to you and also help to inform you of this issue, we offer it to your reading. Incidentally, after I sent my response, this man sent two additional letters of objection, somewhat similar to the first one. RH]

A Catholic Letter and Our Response

The Letter:

Hello
Reading your pages I just want to let you know that to consider “not virgin Mary” is anathema (or how is written)…
The virginity of Mary is dogma of Faith and the only real Truth is preserved in Catholic true magistery since Peter.
To go against this is to serve satan to confuse people. The scisma from church is only a work of demons.
Thanks God, the prayers of Catholic Church reach everyone, but its just sad how many decided to separate them from the foundations of Christ, the Church, that is Apostolic, to follow their own beliefs revised according their view-points and their own interpretation of sacred texts.
Satan is try to imitate God, that s why theres so many scisma from Catholic Church, that they seems to say ‘good’ rasonable things but yet, the deceive of satan is to attire in the wrong path.
JESUS edificated His Church on Peter. The Catholic Church is the only entitled to do so.

Another signal is that the Lord is Trinity. Do you know what is trinity? Or you just know the theory? Or you think you can give your own explanations of things by yourself?
The Holy Spirit. Is God. The Holy Spirit is fully in the Catholic Church as the Bible talks about it. The Holy Spirits falls over disciples of Church and over Mary. That mean that priests (disciples ereditary from the first apostoles) who are the consacrated men (their hands really bless and can consacrate), they can explain and understand and guided people to rightly understand the Bible. We can read the Bible but we need a guide.
Priest of Church have the Holy Spirit.
We should not interpreted Sacred Scripture by ourself.
What we should do is to pray for priests as long as they would be saints”.
Because the problem of Church is just one, that since all the truth is there and the salvific tools are fully there, satan fight against the Catholic church much more than anything else.
Its up to us pray for priests as they will remains faithful to the True Magistery of Catholic Church. Dont think that the single minister of church is the real Catholic Church…

Today many dont trust catholic church and dont pray. And satan do his work to deceive others by making appear church is the wrong light , making falling some ministers.

The Holy Spirit is what permit the Holy Mass…the most Great Miracle that happens everyday in all the Churchs that can consacrared ….

May the Lord help all men to find out the right Path….

Ave Maria!

My Responses to this Gentleman’s Letter

(The Letter is in black and my response is in blue.)

Good morning Val,

Thank you so much for writing and expressing your thoughts. I am glad that we were able to reach Italy (where you are from) and that you were willing to read an article that you didn’t agree with.

I think that you will agree that Jesus has all authority in heaven and on earth (Matthew 28:18) and that God has revealed His will through His written Word (see 2 Timothy 3:15-17). Since God has made known His truth to us through His apostles, and from them to their inspired and authoritative words (John 16:7-15), we know that we can determine God’s will by consulting with the only infallible guide—God’s Word.

In other words, even devoted men, such as Catholic hierarchy or the magisterium, have been wrong and can’t be looked to as our guides. Instead, we must judge both Catholic and Protestant leaders and writers by the only infallible guide that we have—God’s Word. The Holy Spirit has chosen to reveal God’s truth to us, not through fallible men (who have been proven wrong in the past). Thus, the TrueDiscipleship.com website is based on the fact that we should look to God and not ourselves for the answers to life—and the way to life eternal.

Now let me try to respond to some of your concerns below.

Hello
Reading your pages I just want to let you know that to consider “not virgin Mary” is anathema (or how is written)…

Val, I realize that this is Catholic doctrine and the Catholic hierarchy would like for you to believe this. Mary is not a virgin now (though she was at the time that she gave birth to our Savior—see Matthew 1:18 and Luke 1:26-31). I realize that the Catholic Church would “anathematize” those who would differ from it, but be willing to determine what God teaches. You will see that exalting Mary, worshiping Mary, praying to Mary, false teachings about Mary actually brings one into condemnation and not the other way around.

The virginity of Mary is dogma of Faith and the only real Truth is preserved in Catholic true magistery since Peter.

It is true, as you say, that Mary’s perpetual virginity is a “dogma of faith” but the error in your statement is the false idea that this was taught since Peter. No, the early church didn’t believe this but it was a false doctrine that arose among some (not all) of the second and third century church writers. But they were wrong, as Scripture would say (Matthew 1:18; Luke 1:26-31).

To go against this is to serve satan to confuse people.

It is the work of Satan to teach false doctrine, as the Catholic Church does in regard to Mary and dozens of other false doctrines.

The scisma from church is only a work of demons.

On the contrary, the Catholic Church is the work of demons (see 1 Timothy 4:1-2 where Paul says that people have departed from the truth of God because of the “doctrines of demons”).

Thanks God, the prayers of Catholic Church reach everyone, but its just sad how many decided to separate them from the foundations of Christ, the Church, that is Apostolic, to follow their own beliefs revised according their view-points and their own interpretation of sacred texts.

I know that it makes you sad that people have left the Catholic Church. But realize this: The Catholic Church, when it arose in the 4th, 5th, and 6th centuries, departed from the faith of Christ and began to teach and practice many, many false views and false doctrines.

Satan is try to imitate God, that s why theres so many scisma from Catholic Church, that they seems to say ‘good’ rasonable things but yet, the deceive of satan is to attire in the wrong path.

Val, if there are schisms from the Catholic Church, that is something that you must be concerned with. However, the true followers of Christ were never with the Catholic Church. When one comes to Christ, through the word of God (1 Peter 1:23-25), and is born of water and the Spirit (John 3:3-7), and thereby becomes a follower of Christ, a saved person, and a member of the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:13), he is never in the Catholic Church. People were not in the Catholic Church for several hundreds of years after Jesus Christ, thus He could not have been its founder.

But I would agree that it is a terrible thing to depart from the true body of Christ, the assembly of the living God (1 Timothy 3:15-15; Romans 16:16).

JESUS edificated His Church on Peter. The Catholic Church is the only entitled to do so.

Although Matthew 16:16-19 is a difficult passage of Scripture, since the Catholic Church didn’t arise until the time of Cyprian (3rd century) or even as late as Augustine (4th century) or even the 6th century, we know that it was not based on Christ. It came too late for that.

Another signal is that the Lord is Trinity. Do you know what is trinity? Or you just know the theory? Or you think you can give your own explanations of things by yourself?

I understand what the Catholic Church teaches on this doctrine. That there is One God, eternally existent in three Persons, each equally divine.
The Holy Spirit. Is God. The Holy Spirit is fully in the Catholic Church as the Bible talks about it.

If the Holy Spirit teaches many things different from the Catholic Church, how is it possible that the Holy Spirit is in the Catholic Church?  Besides, the Holy Spirit is in people—saved people, regenerated people, forgiven people. And one is saved  and forgiven through faith in Christ, through repenting of sin, and through being baptized (immersed in water and Spirit) into Jesus Christ, and this is something that members of the Catholic Church have not done. So how is it possible that the Holy Spirit would be in the Catholic Church? Val, I encourage you to go back to the Scriptures and determine what God has actually revealed about this.

The Holy Spirits falls over disciples of Church and over Mary. That mean that priests (disciples ereditary from the first apostoles) who are the consacrated men (their hands really bless and can consacrate), they can explain and understand and guided people to rightly understand the Bible.

Val, as I explained above, Catholics have not been saved, and this would include Catholic priests. If they are not saved from sin and indwelt by the Holy Spirit, then why should we look to such men as our guides? Besides, there were no special class of people in the early body of Christ known as priests. Every saved person is a priest of God (see 1 Peter 2:5, 9 and Revelation 1:6).

We can read the Bible but we need a guide.
Priest of Church have the Holy Spirit.
We should not interpreted Sacred Scripture by ourself.

Since a priest is not a saved man, why should we go to a priest to understand the Scriptures? Paul wrote, “We write nothing else to you than what you read and understand” (2 Corinthians 1:13).

What we should do is to pray for priests as long as they would be saints”.

We should pray for priests that they would become saints (separated, saved men).
Because the problem of Church is just one, that since all the truth is there and the salvific tools are fully there, satan fight against the Catholic church much more than anything else.

Val, I understand what you are saying, but we must realize that Satan is doing all he can to lead people astray—whether it is in Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Protestantism, evolutionism, and also the Catholic Church. “The whole world lies in the power of the evil one” (1 John 5:19).

Its up to us pray for priests as they will remains faithful to the True Magistery of Catholic Church. Dont think that the single minister of church is the real Catholic Church…

Val, it would be better for priests to be “faithful” to God and His Word. Instead of being faithful to the apostate Catholic Church, they should be true to the Lord in all respects. This would include you too.

Today many dont trust catholic church and dont pray. And satan do his work to deceive others by making appear church is the wrong light , making falling some ministers.

It is true that there in Italy more and more people are leaving the Catholic Church and are not true to it. Sadly, many of these just become nothing. Instead, all people—whether in the Catholic Church or out of it—need to humble themselves and come to Jesus for He will save you (1 Timothy 1:15).

The Holy Spirit is what permit the Holy Mass…the most Great Miracle that happens everyday in all the Churchs that can consacrared ….

Sadly, Val, this too is perverted in the Catholic Church. In the early believing body of Christ, they simply had the “breaking of bread” and the drinking from a cup (Acts 2:42; 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26). In time the false practice of the Mass arose and then perpetuated by the Catholic Church. It is better to go back to the early disciples of Christ and leave the false doctrines that arose later.

May the Lord help all men to find out the right Path….

Ave Maria!

Val, instead of following Mary, we must follow Jesus.  Jesus Himself distanced Himself from His mother (Mary) and said, “Whoever does the will of My Father who is in heaven, he is My brother and sister and mother” (Matthew 12:50). I call on you to leave Mary (who is no longer a virgin since she had at least 4 more sons and at least two or more daughters—see Mark 6:3). And turn to God through Jesus Christ, who is the only way of salvation and heaven (John 14:6).

Thank you so much for writing and reading these responses. Please consider them with prayer to God and let me know what you think.

Sincerely in Christ Jesus,

Richard
