Blogging with Atheists and Evolutionists

(Part 2)

Richard Hollerman

In our last installment, we stated that recently we responded to a brief internet video. Our comments online, within the blog that pertained to that video, generated a great amount of interest with many responses.

Almost all of these responses were in support of evolution and atheism. After my initial post in the blog, I began to receive many responses in reaction to my promotion of God and His creation of all things. The responses pertained to the Big Bang theory, evolutionary theories, the nature of science, as well as a rejection of God as Creator and a denial that the Bible is His infallible Word.

In our last article we introduced this subject and now we wish to show you some of the comments that were found in the internet blog. I don’t at all claim to be an expert in the sciences or in apologetics. But I do know enough to know that God is the true and living God, that He is Creator, and that His written Word is reliable and truthful. All of this serves as background to what follows.

Atheistic and Evolutionary Comments

This is the online comment that began the series. I responded to a little video about Truth (in general). My comments below will be in blue while the comments of others will be in black.

Whether this is speaking of the authority of government, or the authority of education, or parental authority, the point is that no one has the right to change truth. The ultimate authority is God and He speaks through His written Word, the Bible. If human authority tells us that 2+2=5 we must object. The truth is that 2+2=4. Similarly, when anyone tries to tell us that there is no God, that evolution is true, that sodomy is acceptable, that living together before marriage is permissible, or that killing one’s baby is fine, we must object. Truth is truth regardless of who denies it.

In the case of this little film, the child paid with his life but he stood for truth. Today if we acknowledge God, if we accept creation, if we deny the big bang, if we contend for the respect for life, we may pay a serious price. In some countries it may require laying down one’s life. But the question is what is the truth—not  how many people believe something, not whether a government stands for something, and not whether friends hold to any particular opinion.

Jesus said, “You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31, 32). Will you accept the truth regardless of the cost?

Response from “Hitman Ultimate”

You are an idiot when you believe that you can propaganda religion in such poor explinations. Only idiots believe in Religion which caused so much suffer and wars between peoples. Besides there is no heaven you just become dirt when you die. I think you strongly believe in god cause you fear the chaos and death. Religion was only a tool to get might and money and to get a personal army (crusaders). So [vulgarity] you and your god.

This man is responding to my pro-God statement and anti-evolution statement. You will note that I am choosing not to correct spelling errors or grammatical mistakes.

Response from HandyMan101:

You were doing great all up until you mentioned the Bible.

By your reasoning, anyone outside the scope of that book, is wrong on the matters of truth.

Which includes billions of people by the way.

Response from Stephen s:

this is nothing to do with god and you saying the ultimate authority is god is just the same as saying 2 plus 2 is 5

Response from Vik West:

[vulgarity] you with your [vulgarity] [vulgarity]… go preach your crap somewhere else

Response from Uupekha draupadhi Rajapaksha:

why are u even talking about God? this video says nothing about. and anyway, anyone who believes that a god made all these, even in these period, u have to be pretty dumb

It’s interesting how you don’t even realize you actually are one of these brainwashed sheep. One who blindly believe in nonsense like archaic 2,000-year-old myths and fairy tales as if it’s the truth,  which really is no different than you saying 2+2=5.

Response from Ronald Colin:

or it can also means that when everyone tries to tell you that there is a god, that evolution is not true yet I still choose to believe in evolution because it sounds far more logic just like 2+2=4
I choose to believe regardless of religious people telling me that I would go to hell, well if there is a hell then so be it, I will nor believe in something that’s just not there

My response to Ronald:

Ronald, it doesn’t need to be this way. Here are several reasons: (1) There is no proof of evolution. This is why they call it a “theory” rather than a demonstrable fact. (2) Realizing that you are facing a fact that you would rather not face, try to at least open the door to the possibility that there is a God. (3) Remember that most “gods” or “idols” don’t even exist. They are figments of one’s imagination.

(4) At least check out the Bible (begin with John, Acts, Romans, and Genesis). If you read it with an open mind, you will come to see that it is true. (5) Pay special attention to the Person and teachings and acts of Jesus Christ. If you do this with an open heart, you will come to see that it is logical and consistent with reality. (6) Realize that there is no true atheist. Everyone knows in his conscience that there is a God but they try to cover it over since they know that if God exists, they will be subject to His authority, something that people don’t want to do.

(7) Realize that there is far more evidence for creation than some spontaneous explosion 14 billion years ago. Most people admit that the universe had a beginning. But who was the Beginner? And Who existed before the beginning?

As you consider these things, Ronald, you will come to see that creation is logical and consistent, whereas evolution is a poor attempt to explain life (life from non-life, which is impossible). And remember this: If you are wrong, you will realize God’s existence in the near future (we all will die before very many years). It is better to examine the evidence right now and God will show you who He is and who Jesus Christ is.

May God bless you, Richard

Response from another person:

By saying comparing other religions to the “truth of the Bible,” you are saying that other religions are untrue. What is this “evidence” and “vast gulf” you talk about anyway? As long as people still cling to “I’m right, you’re wrong” mentality, someone is bound to strike a nerve of another. When will there be peace?

Please open your mind to the diversity of human minds and their backgrounds. Not everyone needs to agree with your view.

My Response:

I realize where you are coming from, but when you think about it, this “post modern” perspective doesn’t really make sense. It is illogical in the extreme. To say that everyone is “right” can’t be true. To say that all religions are “right” would be equally untrue. No, there can be only one true way to God in heaven and no other.

The only way to discover what this “way” is to seek what God Himself has to say. After all, the only way a fellow-human may know about his fellow is to ask Him or to listen to him. Similarly, if God has revealed Himself, then He has a right to be heard about whatever it is He has spoken.

As for all religions, yes, all world religions are untrue, unless one is speaking about the “religion” that Jesus Christ brought (and it is more of a way of life and thinking than a religion, per se). Instead of saying that “I’m right” and “you’re wrong,” it is better to say that God is right and both of us had better make sure that we believe in Him, obey Him, and follow Him. For He has already stated that the way is narrow that leads to eternal life, while the way is broad that leads to destruction (Matthew 7:13-14). Jesus is the only Way, for He declared, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to [God] the Father but through Me” (John 14:6). While this is an exclusive statement, it is true.

Response from another:

for me your religion represent 5 and for years if people said 4 they were shut up and shot down. Besides all your arguments are completely constructed over fallacies, you just need to take your last line. “While this is an exclusive statement (and it is written in a book I consider the absolute truth), it is true.” but as I don’t expect to change your mind because logic is imposible with you, be happy extolling your book and religion, and I’ll be happy living my religionless life 🙂 …

Response from Erick:

Well the point of science is to discover things for ourselves by OBSERVING them. I choose not to believe that there is an elephant orbiting on the opposite side of the sun because it has never been observed by anybody. Now along comes a bible. I have absolutely no reason to believe anything it says. It’s just a book. I choose to believe in science because it is a method that has worked for us.

My Response to Erick:

Erick, you are right that observational science depends on present-day experimentation and observation. This is good. Many medical discoveries have been made in this way.

However, historical science is something else–and this is where the evolutionist runs into trouble.  Thus, science can be good or bad, depending on what you mean. The unbelieving, skeptical, and agnostic scientist can do much harm by denying the existence of God Himself. He denies his own Creator!

We can know that God exists and can even know something about Him by observation–observing what He has made and done. “That which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks. . . . Professing to be wise, they became fools” (Romans 1:19-22).

And so, Erick, open your eyes and observe God’s marvelous creation. Every creation must have a Creator. And that Creator is God Himself.

Response from Chuanqi:

The Bible was written to keep the population under control and act like the same sheep over and over again. This way no one is going to be a disturbance. Why would you trust in things people, no better then you, preached since you been born, they definitely don’t know better. I cant believe there are still people like you on this planet to this date. There is no reason for it. Stop purring the brainwashed content of your head into this world.

My Response to Chuani:

Hello Chuanqi… Thank you for writing. I can understand where you are coming from and it is typical for one who looks at the Bible from outside. Perhaps you read something or heard something about the Bible that discredited it and gave you the impression that it is merely a human book, similar to the Hindu scriptures or the Islamic Quran. But it is far more than this, Chuanqi.

Be willing to look into the Bible for yourself. Read Genesis and then go to the New Testament (the last portion of the Bible). Read Matthew, John, Acts, and especially Romans. Read with an open mind and receptive heart. Someone has well said that the Bible is “self-authenticating,” meaning that as you read God will show you that these words are indeed true and reliable.

Of course, it would be good to have an objective study of the Bible, the Word of God.  It is reliable. It is truthful. It reveals truths that no one else in antiquity knew. It has several hundred prophecies and many of them have been fulfilled–just as the original writer predicted.

As you do study the Word, internally and externally, you will see that it is true and authentic. True, those who mistakenly call themselves “Christians” can be wrong.  There were deluded people who went on Crusades and others who carried on an Inquisition and still others who engaged in warfare. All of this is hypocrisy. Look beyond this to the peerless life of Christ Himself. And realize that He died for YOU and now lives for YOU.

Response from Trihard NINJA:

I dont understand why everyone has to bring religion into this. It displays Authoritarian Rule. It has got nothing to do with religion. And i your saying as if Christianity is always right. Some people would think otherwise. If you have an opinion please keep it to yourself.

My Response to Trihard:

The connection has to do with the authoritative way that unbelieving and atheistic evolutionists insist that one see it their way even when evolution can’t be proven. It is a theory. And there can’t be a real way to test it since it was in the past.  But skeptics dogmatically want the gullible public to declare that 2+2=5 even when logically it can’t be true. Evolution is absolutely impossible. The only way it arose was for one to reject the true and living God in favor of an untested and untestable theory.

As it is, the fact of creation is all around us and for every creation, there had to have a Creator. We call that Creator God. There is massive evidence for creation’s design if anyone will open their eyes and allow their mind to think

Response from Jenn:

I don’t usually do this but the film was great and you ruined it a bit.
Evolution could be as theory as the existence of God is. That’s the real truth. We’re not almighty so we can’t be 100% sure of anything. Your first comment was almost perfect but you brought religion and fanaticism into it. That’s bad.

Don’t get me wrong, I do believe in the existence of A God, without a name, without a face. With the capacity of being everyone’s GOD… and I also believe in evolution because that GOD can create beings with the capability to EVOLVE… and be tolerant.

You can believe anything that you want to believe, but the real curse of humanity is that we always want to FORCE everyone else to believe the same. The film showed it. You’re not respecting the beauty of free will.
Using your hypothesis (because it isn’t a theory), that God you’re talking about, it’s also in the past and CAN’T BE PROVEN. We can just “BELIEVE” in IT.

My Response to Jenn

Good morning Jenn… I’m glad that you admit that evolution is a theory and not fact. As for God, He has demonstrated His existence, wisdom, and power in a trillion ways. I know that you don’t believe in His Word, but this is the way He put it: “That which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse…. Professing to be wise, they became fools” (Romans 1:19-22).

In other words, when the scientist points his telescope into space and the researcher peers through the microscope, they see vast evidences for God’s existence since He is Creator.

Further, when we look into His written Word (the Bible), we see a demonstration of His wisdom and knowledge. Some 300 prophecies (predictions) of Jesus Christ were made from 400 to 1400 years before He was born. One researcher pointed out that if you were to mark one single quarter and place it in the state of Texas, then fill the state with quarters 2 feet high, then blindfold a person and allow him to wander around the state, what is the possibility that he could find that single coin? That is the chance that only 8 of those 300 prophecies could come to pass!

Thus, the Bible is verified in this way and many other ways. It has never been shown to be false. If God has revealed His existence and if His written Word is true, we can be assured of truth.  The greatest truth is that He gave His own divine Son to this earth to die for you and me so that our sins can be forgiven. That’s right–we can be accepted by God and taken to live with Him! So your theory, that there is some unknown “god” out there needs to be filled out with truth.

We’ve noticed enough of these comments from unbelieving evolutionists. In our next installment, we plan to examine more of the responses that were sent to the blog on the video website.

I don’t respond like this very often but it is good to be able to “contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints” (Jude 3b). Although many or most of these respondents probably are hostile to the truth of God and not open to His word, there may be someone out there who will give thought to what we present. Further, there may be others who read these responses and don’t bother to participate in the discussion. Either way, may the truth of God prevail!

Until next time, may God bless you and establish you in the faith…
